On December 12, 2009 The Scranton Times-Tribune featured this brief article on Rabbi Swartz and Temple Hesed, mentioning our early efforts in organizing a PA affiliate of IPL.

On December 3, 2009, Keystone Edge, a web-based news magazine, put together this lengthy article on Rabbi Swartz and Temple Hesed, mentioning the Rock Ethics Institute conference.

On September 21, 2009, the Centre Daily Times ran an op-ed by Prof. Jonathan Brockopp in advance of the October conference at Penn State that started it all.

Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light continues to make the news! Reporters have been interested in our story of a faith-based response to the threat of climate change.

 

As Rabbi Swartz says, we see climate change as an ethical issue: The people getting hurt by climate change are “almost always the people with the fewest resources.” We have a duty to help them, and we hope you will join us in this work.

On August 26, 2010, the Centre Daily Times quoted Sylvia Neely from PA IPL in an article on the increasing frequency of summer heat waves, and on September 18, they ran a column by Rev. Diane Prosser on our kick-off.events.

Sustainability Now

On September 17, 2010, Sustainability Now, a radio show broadcast on WKPS TheLion.fm 90.7fm, interviewed Sylvia Neely about PA IPL.

On September 24, 2010, WPSU public radio ran a 5-minute story on our kickoff event, with interviews with Jon Brockopp and Krystn Madrine along with Barb Ballenger’s rewrite of a Bob Dylan classic.

On September 25, 2010, the Centre Daily Times ran this wonderful photo of Barb Ballenger singing her heart out on page 3. It also included a short story about our weekend of events.

On November 26, 2010, Sylvia Neely published an op-ed in the Centre Daily Times emphasizing that climate change is the greatest moral challenge of our time.

On December 15, 2010, board member Bill Sharp discussed the Transition Town movement on WITF, public radio in Harrisburg. He pointed to PA IPL as a key partner in the transition movement.

On February 7, 2011, the Scranton Times-Tribune featured this opinion piece by Rabbi Swartz with a message of hope about our changing climate, including mention of our preach-in on climate change.

On July 13, 2011, the Jewish Daily Forward published this extensive piece on Marcellus Shale fracking at Jewish Summer camps, quoting PAIPL vice president Rabbi Daniel Swartz.

On September 13, 2011, Board president Sylvia Neely published this op-ed in the Centre Daily Times explaining the religious response to climate change.

On September 18, 2011, we released our ethical analysis of drilling for gas in the Marcellus Shale. Rabbi Daniel Swartz, PA IPL vice president, is interviewed in this story.

On September 19, 2011, our press conference and award to Franklin Kury was covered in the Centre Daily Times, quoting PA IPL members Ray and Jean Najjar.

Our Marcellus statement was also picked up by the Scranton Times-Tribune, State College Voices, Penn State Collegian and several other outlets, including the Houston Chronicle and the Columbus (IN) Republic.
